PSG – Monaco Betting Prediction 04/08/2018

The first official match of the French season will be played this weekend, it is the duel between PSG and Monaco, counting for the French Supercup. The match will take place on Saturday afternoon and will be held in China on the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Center, starting at 15:00. Even if the PSG won both the Ligue 1 title and the French Cup, they will meet Monaco in the Supercup after the Monegas were the next in the standings, at a considerable distance of 13 points.

The two teams also met last season in the French Supercup and then PSG won the 2-1 in Morocco on the Stade de Tanger, reaching the fifth consecutive Trophee des champions. It is very hard to believe that the Parisians will stop at this number and will miss the first trophy of the season 2018/19, being the great favorite of this duel.

This is not surprising, given the supremacy of the PSG in recent years in France, the incontestable value of the lot involving many players with an impressive individual technique, or the fact that the new Thomas Tuchel, who was named after with a month on the team, is eager to make a first trophy with PSG.

In the meantime PSG has played several matches against major teams in the main European championships, but the results, even if they are weak, are not conclusive given the fact that the whole lot was played and less known players appeared in the team: defeats 3-1 with Bayern Munich and 5-1 with Arsenal, and a victory against Atletico Madrid, score 3-2. The most important thing, however, is that the team has retained the core of the players and has not been given important names, only to mention the departures of the offensive Javier Pastore in AS Roma for 24.7 million euros and the defender left Yuri Berchiche in Bilbao for another 24m euros. Even PSG arrivals did not impress, apart from two big names, no other players came to the team. It is the final acquisition of right wing Kylian Mbappe from Monaco for 135 million euros and the transfer of goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, who has arrived from free contract Juventus.

On the other hand, in addition to the apparently valuable difference to the existing Parisians, Monaco has lost much after a number of very important players succumbed to the competition: the left wing Thomas Lemar was ceded to Atletico Madrid for no less 70 million euros, the Fabinho defensive midfielder was transferred by Liverpool for the sum of 45 million euros and the central defender Terence Kongolo went to Huddersfield for 20 million euros. Of all this money received from the transfers, the Monegas have reinvested a hand, coming to the center midfielder who scored in the World Championship with the Russian national Aleksandr Golovin for almost 35 million euros from CSKA Moscow, the left wing Willem Geubbels for 20 millions of euros in Lyon, central midfielder Jean-Eudes Aholou in Strasbourg for the sum of 14m euros or Antonio Barreca arrived from Turin for 10m euros.
